Beauty and seclusion off the beaten track

Argentella can only be reached via a windy road that hugs the side of a mountain. Just getting to the hotel can be an adventure. Once there, you find a breathtakingly beautiful bay, and a couple of kilometres of unspoilt beach (« galets » i.e. pebbles not sand). The hotel’s restaurant is on the beach (it’s a few steps from your table to the sea) and provides you with wonderful panoramic views. There is an unobtrusive campsite tucked away nearby and barely a handful of other buildings in the entire bay. It’s a « get away from it all » type of place, where you can swim, snorkel, sunbath, read, go for a stroll, and relax.

The hotel looks pretty with a friendly homely feel and warm hospitality. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and all the food and wine is terrific. Varied fresh Mediterranean cuisine served in healthy-sized portions at a reasonable price.

The accommodation is simple and functional (small bungalows consisting of a bedroom, shower room and toilet, built on the hill above the beach). Not luxurious, there is no a/c for example, but bedrooms are spacious and clean.

If you are looking for seclusion in stunningly beautiful surroundings, and a short stroll from the beach to a great restaurant every day, this is the place for you. If, on the other hand, you want perfect wifi, mod cons, luxury accommodation etc, it really isn’t.
